Kristin McCarthy Parker is a New York-based director and producer whose work has been seen across the US, the UK and Australia.

Kristin is the Co-Founder, Director, and Producer of Recent Cutbacks, whose critically-acclaimed work sits at the intersection of comedy and theater. The company’s Jurassic Park parody, Hold On To Your Butts, is currently playing in London on the West End and will return to Edinburgh Fringe 2025 for a second season.

Kristin directed the Off-Broadway hit Puffs: Or, Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic and its live capture (available on Amazon and iTunes). An avid developer of new work, she has directed for Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theater, Powerhouse Theater, New Georges, All For One, The Brick Exponential Festival, PEN America's Prison Writing Program, Ma-Yi, Columbia University, the University of Florida, and many others. Assistantships include Michael Greif (Far From Heaven), Trip Cullman (Choir Boy), and Wendy C. Goldberg (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?).

Kristin’s eye for comedy and physical theater is informed by a unique background in clown, dance, mime, and Shakespeare. She is a also proud company member, performer, and teacher with Broken Box Mime.

Film work includes Reid Pope’s short Can’t Touch This, Serious Business’ parody music video Side Salad, and the action/sci-fi short ALPHA with Julie Ann Earls, which has garnered 275k views on YouTube since its release.
